아일랜드 당국,회사에 AI 훈련 연기 요청

메타가 지난 14일(현지시간) 자사의 인공지능(AI) 비서 '메타 AI'를 유럽에서 출시하지 않을 것이라고 밝혔다.

메타는 블로그를 통해 "아일랜드 규제당국 데이터보호위원회가 페이스북,인스타그램 성인 이용자가 공유하는 공개 콘텐츠를 이용해 거대언어모델(LLM)을 훈련하는 것을 연기해달라고 요청했다"면서 "지난 3월부터 유럽 규제 기관들의 의견을 반영해 AI 훈련 과정을 변경하고 정보를 제공하는 등 소통해왔다.유럽 개인정보보호당국을 대신한 아일랜드 위원회의 요청에 실망했다"고 전했다.

앞서 메타는 개인 게시물과 이미지 등을 수집하고 AI에 활용할 수 있는 개인정보 보호정책안을 시행했다.이에 비정부기구(NGO)인 유럽디지털권리센터(NOYB)가 반발해 오스트리아와 벨기에,로또 최다 당첨 판매점프랑스 등 EU 내 데이터 보호 당국에 메타가 개인 데이터를 수집하지 못하도록 조치를 취해달라고 촉구했다.이로 인해 아일랜드 당국이 LLM 훈련 연기를 요청한 것이다.

메타는 이 요청이 유럽을 혁신과 AI 개발 경쟁에서 뒤쳐지게 할 것이라고 주장했다.
