[밀양=뉴시스] 안지율 기자 = 경남 밀양에서 술에 취한 상태로 운전을 하다가 보행자를 치어 사망하게 하고 도주한 50대가 경찰에 붙잡혔다.

밀양경찰서는 스포츠유틸리티차량(SUV) 운전자인 50대 A(50대)씨에 대해 특정범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반 혐의로 구속영장을 신청했다고 14일 밝혔다.

A씨는 지난 13일 오후 8시17분께 밀양시 초동면 봉황리의 편도 1차로를 주행하던 중 길을 건너던 B(60대)씨를 차로 치고 필요한 조치를 취하지 않고 현장을 떠난 혐의를 받고 있다.

이 사고로 B씨는 인근 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 사망했다.

경찰은 사고 발생 약 3시간 후인 오후 11시10분께 사고 현장에서 약 500m 떨어진 곳에서 사고 차량을 발견하고 A씨를 추적해 검거했다.

당시 A씨는 사고를 인지하고 있었음에도 차를 멈추지 않고 계속 운전한 것으로 조사됐다.

체포 당시 A씨의 혈중알코올농도는 면허취소 수준이었다.

경찰은 정확한 사고 경위를 조사 중이다.
