장재훈 현대차 대표이사(사장)가 수소 산업 관련 전 세계 최고경영자(CEO) 협의체인 수소위원회 공동의장을 맡았다.

수소위원회는 이번 달 임기가 만료된 가네하나 요시노리 공동의장(가와사키 중공업 회장)의 후임으로 장 사장을 선임했다고 18일 밝혔다.장 사장은 린데의 산지브 람바 최고경영자와 함께 공동의장직을 수행한다.정의선 현대차그룹 회장도 2019년에 수소위원회 공동의장을 맡은 바 있다.

장 사장은 “수소위원회는 글로벌 친환경 에너지 전환 노력에 있어 중요한 이니셔티브를 맡고 있다”며 “동료 수소 지도자들과 함께 혁신을 주도하겠다”고 말했다.앞서 장 사장은 올해 초 미국에서 열린‘시이에스(CES) 2024’에서 수소 대중화의 어려움에도 수소 산업을 꾸준히 추진하겠다는 의지를 밝힌 바 있다.

지난 2017년 다보스포럼에서 출범한 수소위원회는 수소 비전을 가진 기업들이 모여 청정에너지 전환을 촉진하는 최고경영자 주도 글로벌 협의체로,현재 20여개국 140개 기업이 회원사로 참여하고 있다.한편 올해 수소위원회 연례 최고경영자 행사는 지난 10∼12일(현지시각) 독일 베를린에서‘리더십 액션’을 주제로 열렸다.
