(서울=연합뉴스) 김다혜 기자 = 정부가 11일 '삼성 합병 개입'과 관련해 미국 사모펀드 메이슨에 3천200만달러를 배상하라는 국제상설중재재판소(PCA) 판정에 불복해 취소소송을 제기했다.

법무부는 "정부 대리 로펌 및 외부 전문가들과 여러 차례 심도 있는 논의 끝에 중재판정부가 한미 자유무역협정(FTA) 관할 인정 요건을 잘못 해석해 관할을 부당하게 인정했고 이는 싱가포르 중재법상 정당한 취소 사유에 해당한다고 결론을 내렸다"며 이같이 밝혔다.

그러면서 "법리적으로 잘못된 이 사건 판정을 바로잡아 국부 유출을 막도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

앞서 메이슨은 한국 정부가 국민연금의 의결권 행사에 부당한 압력을 행사해 삼성물산-제일모직 합병에 찬성하도록 한 결과 삼성물산과 삼성전자 주가가 하락해 약 2억 달러의 손해를 입었다며 2018년 중재를 신청했다.

PCA 중재판정부는 지난 4월 메이슨 측 주장을 일부 받아들여 한국 정부에 3천203만876달러 및 지연이자(2015년 7월부터 5% 연복리)를 지급하라고 판정했다.
