신내·망우·면목지역 교통여건 크게 개선 전망

(서울=연합뉴스) 정준영 기자 = 서울 중랑구(구청장 류경기)는 5일 면목선 도시철도 사업이 정부의 예비타당성(예타)조사 심의를 통과한 것과 관련,레이커스 골스"대중교통수단이 취약한 신내·망우·면목지역 교통 여건이 크게 개선될 것"이라고 전망했다.

면목선 도시철도는 중랑구 신내동을 기점으로 망우동,레이커스 골스면목동을 경유해 동대문구 청량리를 연결하는 총 9.1㎞ 구간의 지하 경전철(지하철) 노선이다.

구는 "구민의 절실한 염원을 한국개발연구원(KDI) 종합평가에 반영하고자 노력했고,레이커스 골스오늘 예타 통과 결정을 받으면서 20여년의 지역 숙원 사업이 결실을 보게 됐다"며 환영했다.

류경기 구청장은 "지역 균형 발전과 구도심 정비 등 시대적 과제를 해결하기 위한 마중물이 되기를 희망한다"며 조속한 사업 추진을 위해 서울시 등 관계기관과 함께 협력하겠다고 했다.

면목선 도시철도는 2005년 민간투자사업으로 시작됐으나 여건 변화로 2018년 재정사업으로 전환됐고,레이커스 골스관련 절차를 거쳐 2021년 10월 예타 조사가 본격 착수됐다.
