(베를린=연합뉴스) 김계연 특파원 = 유럽연합(EU) 경쟁당국이 항공그룹 루프트한자의 이탈리아 항공사 이타(ITA) 인수를 승인할 것으로 보인다고 로이터·블룸버그통신이 13일(현지시간) 보도했다.

루프트한자는 최근 독점 우려를 불식할 최종 개선책을 제출했으며 EU 당국이 승인 결정 초안을 작성 중이라고 외신들은 전했다.

루프트한자는 유나이티드항공(미국)·에어캐나다(캐나다)와 대서양 횡단 합작노선에 ITA를 2년간 투입하지 않겠다고 제안했다.밀라노 리나테 공항의 40개 슬롯(항공기 이·착륙 횟수)은 저가항공사 이지젯(영국)·볼로테아(스페인)에 넘기기로 했다.

ITA는 경영난으로 청산 처리된 과거 이탈리아 대표 항공사 알리탈리아의 뒤를 이어 정부가 2021년 설립한 국영 항공사다.

루프트한자는 ITA의 지분 41%를 3억2천500만유로(약 4천722억원)에 매입하기로 합의하고 나중에 41％를 추가로 인수할 수 있는 콜옵션을 확보했다.

그러나 EU 경쟁당국 심사에서 주로 대서양을 건너는 장거리 노선과 관련해 독점 우려가 불거졌다.루프트한자가 2010년부터 북미 항공사 2곳과 꾸린 대서양 합작노선은 시장 점유율이 80％에 달한다고 알려져 있다.

독일 쾰른에 본사를 둔 루프트한자는 오스트리아항공·브뤼셀항공·스위스항공·유로윙스 등을 거느린 유럽 최대 항공그룹이다.

인수합병이 최종 성사될 경우 조르자 멜로니 이탈리아 총리의 국가부채 감축 노력에 힘이 실릴 것으로 보인다고 블룸버그통신은 해설했다.

마테오 살비니 이탈리아 부총리 겸 교통장관은 지난 7일 "EU 집행위가 인수합병을 가로막는다면 이탈리아에 대한 심각한 공격이자 적대적인 행위가 될 것이며 우리는 가만히 있지 않을 것"이라고 경고한 바 있다.
