28일 재계에 따르면 최 사장은 다음 달 1일자로 SK E&S 미래성장총괄사장을 맡는 것으로 알려졌다.

최 사장은 2022년부터 SK온에서 해외 합작법인(JV) 설립과 글로벌 자금 유치 등 굵직한 사업을 총괄했다.이번 인사에 따라 그룹 그린·에너지 사업의 내실 경영을 통한‘질적 성장’전략을 지원할 전망이다.

1965년생인 최 사장은 최재원 SK이노베이션 수석부회장의 최측근으로도 알려져 있다.그는 지난 1994년 SK그룹이 인수한 한국이동통신(현 SK텔레콤) 경영지원실을 시작으로 SK텔레콤 자금본부 국제금융실,tms58SK브로드밴드 전략기획그룹장,tms58SK텔레콤 기업사업전략본부장,tms58SK㈜ 비서실장 등을 역임했다.

최 사장은 특히 2011년부터 SK㈜ 비서실장으로 근무하며 최 수석부회장의 신임을 얻은 것으로 알려졌다.최 수석부회장 이달 7일 SK온 수석부회장에서 SK이노베이션 수석부회장으로 선임됐다.
