(순천=연합뉴스) 장덕종 기자 = 노관규(무소속) 전남 순천시장은 28일 "정부에서 (전남) 의대 신설을 발표하면 순천대가 당연히 독자적으로 신청해야 한다"고 말했다.

노 시장은 이날 순천시청에서 취임 2주년 기자회견을 열고 전남 국립 의과대학 신설 문제와 관련 순천대 독자 추진 입장을 거듭 밝혔다.

그는 "정부에서는 신설 의대를 하겠다고 발표하지 않고 있는데 전남도는 계속 공모 운운하며 압박하는 형국"이라며 "목포대만 올리든지,로또 1등 실수령액2021년 (전남도의 의대 설립) 용역 결과를 수정하든지 해야 한다"고 전남도의 공모 참여 불가 입장을 재확인했다.

최근 거론되는 더불어민주당 복당 문제에는 "일반 복당은 하지 않는다.페널티(경선 시 감점) 수용하며 할 수 없다"며 "한다면 특별 복당(당 요청에 따른)인데 여러 순천의 문제를 풀어가는 데 무엇이 최선일까 고심하고 있다"고 말했다.

노 시장은 "2023순천만국제정원박람회 성공으로 인정받은 순천의 경쟁력은 정부 지원과 기업 투자 유치로 이어졌다"며 "성과를 바탕으로 우주 바이오 등 첨단산업을 육성하는 한편 순천을 대한민국 문화산업 메카로 이끌어가겠다"고 강조했다.
