연합뉴스20년 전 발생한‘밀양 집단 성폭행 사건’과 관련해 온라인상에서 가해자로 지목된 사람 중 일부가‘사건과 무관하다’고 주장하며 허위사실로 신상을 공개한 유튜버 등을 처벌해달라는 집단 진정서를 제출했다.

24일 경남경찰청과 밀양경찰서 등에 따르면 사건 가해자로 지목된 A씨 등 9명이 지난 23일 밀양경찰서를 찾아 이같은 내용의 진정서를 제출했다.

이들은 “사건과 관련이 없는데 유튜브와 온라인 커뮤니티에 자신들의 사진 등 신상공개가 되면서 여러곳에서 협박에 시달리고 있다”며 피해를 호소했다.

이들은 방송통신심의위원회에도 사진 삭제 요청 민원을 낸 것으로 알려졌다.

밀양 집단 성폭행 사건과 관련해 온라인상에서 공개되면서 이에 따른 고소·진정도 크게 증가하고 있다.

지난 23일까지 밀양 성폭행 사건과 관련한 고소·진정 건수는 총 110여건에 이른 것으로 집계됐다.대부분 가해자의 여자친구로 잘못 공개되거나,당사자 동의 없이 무단으로 개인신상을 공개해 명예가 훼손됐다는 취지다.

유튜브 등 온라인에서는 이달 초부터 가해자들의 신상이 공개되면서 당시 사건이 다시 주목받으면서 파장이 크게 확산됐다.

한편 밀양시는 이같은 여파가 커지자 오는 25일 대국민 사과문을 발표할 예정이다.

밀양 집단 성폭행 사건은 지난 2004년 12월 밀양지역 고교생 44명이 울산 여중생 1명을 밀양으로 꾀어내 1년간 지속해 성폭행한 사건이다.당시 사건을 수사한 울산지검은 가해자 중 10명(구속 7명,불구속 3명)을 기소했다.20명은 소년원으로 보내졌다.

나머지 가해자는 피해자와 합의했거나 고소장에 포함되지 않아‘공소권 없음’결정이 났다.
