구룡포읍 눌태리,마을 자생 단체 등 주민들의 전폭 지지 받아

[포항=뉴시스]안병철 기자 = 경북 포항시 추모공원 건립 부지로 '구룡포읍 눌태리'가 최종 선정됐다.

포항시는 26일 포항시청 브리핑룸에서 기자회견을 열고 추모공원 건립부지에 대한 선정 결과를 발표했다.

시는 이날 기자회견에서 포항시추모공원건립추진위원회 심의를 거쳐 접근성,캐릭터 슬롯 증가주변 여건,경제성,토지 활용성,캐릭터 슬롯 증가환경적 영향과 지역주민의 추진 의지 등 민원성을 종합적으로 평가해 구룡포를 최종 선정했다고 밝혔다.

건립부지로 선정된 구룡포읍 눌태리는 구룡포읍 40개 마을 자생 단체(시의원,전 시 의장 포함) 등 주민들의 전폭적인 지지를 받아 민원수용성에서 높은 점수를 받았다.

시는 지난 2023년 6월12일부터 9월10일까지 추모공원 건립 후보지를 재공모해 구룡포(눌태1),연일(우복2),동해(중산·공당),캐릭터 슬롯 증가장기(죽정),캐릭터 슬롯 증가장기(창지2),청하(하대),캐릭터 슬롯 증가송라(중산1) 등 총 7개 지역의 신청서를 접수받았다.

이에 시는 포항시의회,캐릭터 슬롯 증가관계전문가 시민단체 등 13명의 심의위원을 구성해 19차례에 걸쳐 회의를 진행하고 서류 검토 및 현장실사 등 전문가 용역을 통한 검증과 심사를 거쳐 구룡포 눌태리를 선정했다.

추모공원 부지로 선정된 구룡포읍 눌태리 마을에는 40억원의 주민지원기금이 지원되며 30년간 화장시설 사용료 20%가 주민들에게 지원된다.

또한 유치지역 해당 읍·면에는 주민지원기금 80억원과 45억원 규모의 주민 편익·숙원사업이 지원된다.

장상길 포항시 부시장은 "추모공원이 건립되는 지역에 기존에 약속한 혜택뿐만 아니라 추가적인 사업을 발굴해 지역 경제 발전에 도움이 될 수 있도록 전폭적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"며 "입지 선정 지역에 대한 장기 발전 계획을 조속한 시기 내에 수립할 수 있도록 모든 행정력을 집중하겠다"고 말했다.
