지난 5월 태국 파타야에서 발생한 한국인 살인사건의 공범 3명 중 캄보디아에 붙잡혀 있던 1명이 국내로 강제 송환됐다.

10일 오전 경찰청은 파타야 살인사건 피의자 A씨(27)를 캄보디아 프놈펜에서 인천국제공항을 통해 강제 송환했다고 밝혔다.A씨가 캄보디아에서 검거된 지 58일 만이다.

앞서 지난 5월 3일 A씨 등 3명은 태국 파타야에서 30대 한국인 관광객을 납치,온라인 도박 사례살해한 뒤 시신을 유기한 혐의를 받고 있다.

그는 범행 직후인 같은 달 9일 캄보디아로 도주했다.캄보디아 경찰주재관과 현지 경찰의 공조를 통해 5일 만인 14일 프놈펜에서 검거됐다.

경찰청은 A씨를 신속하게 송환하기 위해 그간 태국 및 캄보디아 당국과 협의를 지속해 온 것으로 전해졌다.A씨가 캄보디아에서 검거됐지만 태국에서 발생한 살인사건인 만큼 태국 경찰청의 이해를 구하는 것이 중요했다.

경찰청은 사건 직후부터 태국 경찰 당국과 수사 정보를 교환했다.지난달 중순에는 수사관서인 경남경찰청 수사팀을 태국 현지로 보내 합동 수사회의를 개최하면서 실체적 진실 규명을 위한 한국 경찰의 수사 의지를 태국 당국 측에 적극적으로 피력했다.

이에 캄보디아 당국은 범죄인 인도 절차에 따르려던 당초 입장을 바꿔 지난 4일 피의자를 강제추방 형식으로 우리 측에 인도한다는 방침을 정했다.

경찰청은 A씨를 수사관서인 경남경찰청 형사기동대를 중심으로 집중 수사한다는 방침이다.

아울러 아직 도피 중인 나머지 피의자 B씨(39)에 대해서도 도피 예상 국가의 경찰당국과 공조를 통해 조기 검거한다는 방침이다.B씨는 현재 미얀마로 도주한 것으로 알려졌다.

앞서 또 다른 공범 C씨(26)는 지난 5월 전북 정읍에서 검거돼 현재 재판을 받고 있다
