카카오가 '인공지능(AI) 프로필' 서비스를 종료한다.카카오는 그룹 내 흩어져 있던 AI 조직과 서비스를 통합하는 한편,사바나 우붓'서비스 중심의 AI' 구축에 나선다는 목표다.

24일 IT업계에 따르면,카카오는 공지를 통해 "카카오의 새로운 AI 서비스 방향성에 맞게 서비스 재정비하기 위해 칼로 AI 프로필 서비스를 종료한다"고 밝혔다.

이에 따라 내달 24일 AI 프로필 신규 생성과 결제가 종료된다.서비스 공식 종료 시점은 내년 7월 31일이다.이미 생성한 AI 프로필은 '프로필 이력' 메뉴에서 생성일 기준 최대 1년간 저장하거나 조회할 수 있다.

칼로 AI 프로필은 지난해 11월 카카오의 AI 연구·개발 조직인 카카오브레인을 통해 선보인 서비스다.이 서비스는 이미지 생성 모델인 '칼로'를 활용해 이용자의 별도 애플리케이션(앱)을 사용하지 않고도 얼굴 사진 한 장만으로도 AI 프로필 이미지를 만들 수 있는 것이 특징이다.

카카오 관계자는 "이번 칼로 AI 프로필 서비스 종료는 자사가 준비 중인 새로운 AI 서비스의 방향성에 맞춰 기존 서비스를 재정비하고,사바나 우붓'선택과 집중'을 하기 위해 종료됐다"고 설명했다.

카카오는 올해 '서비스형 AI'를 목표로 관련 역량을 모으고 있다.카카오는 지난달 이사회를 통해 카카오브레인의 초거대 AI 언어모델과 이미지 생성 모델 등을 영업 양수도하는 안건을 의결하고,사바나 우붓이달 1일부로 카카오브레인 임직원의 본사 합류를 마쳤다.

아울러 그룹 내 AI 전담 조직인 '카나나'를 출범시켰다.카나나는 본사에 꾸렸던 AI 전담조직과 자회사 카카오브레인을 결합해 만든 조직으로,사바나 우붓AI 서비스 발굴을 중심으로 하는 '카나나 엑스'와 AI 모델 개발을 중심으로 하는 '카나나 알파'로 나뉜다.
