[서울=뉴시스]이다솜 기자 = GS칼텍스는 새로운 3-레이어 디자인을 적용한 윤활유 용기를 개발해 자사 제품에 적용하기 시작했다고 27일 밝혔다.

3-레이어 용기는 국내 윤활유 시장에서 통상 사용되는 한 겹의 용기 디자인이 아닌 일반 플라스틱 원료에 재활용 플라스틱 원료 30%를 혼용한 세 겹의 디자인이다.

GS칼텍스는 이번 개발로 윤활유 용기의 구조적 안정성을 강화해 사용되는 총 플라스틱 양을 약 15% 절감했을 뿐만 아니라,메뉴 추천 룰렛재활용 플라스틱의 비중을 기존 20%에서 30%로 높였다.

또한 파손 및 누유 위험성도 낮아졌다.신규 용기는 6L(리터)용 제품 절반에 적용되었으며 향후 1L,메뉴 추천 룰렛4L 사이즈 용기 등에 확대 적용하여 재활용 플라스틱 활용을 늘려 나갈 예정이다.

GS칼텍스는 지난 해 10월부터 자체 생산하는 모든 플라스틱 윤활유 용기에 자사의 물리적 재활용(MR) 기술로 만들어진 재활용 플라스틱 원료가 20% 포함되도록 적용했다.윤활유 용기 생산에 사용되는 재활용 플라스틱 양은 연 환산 시 약 700톤 규모에 이른다.

GS칼텍스 관계자는 "신규 용기를 선도적으로 개발해 일반 플라스틱의 사용량을 줄이고 재활용 플라스틱 사용량을 증대할 수 있게 됐다"며 "향후에도 탄소저감 제품의 활용성을 높여갈 예정이다"라고 밝혔다.
