이탈리아 유력 일간지 코리에레델라세라는 지난 12일(현지시간) 이탈리아 하원에서의 난투극을 이같이 평했다.13일 AFP 통신 등에 따르면 당일(12일) 이탈리아 하원에서는 지방정부 자치권 확대를 둘러싼 갈등으로 여야 의원들 20명이 뒤엉켜 싸움을 벌였다.

발단은 제2야당 '오성운동'(M5S) 소속 레오나르도 돈노 의원이 우파정당 '동맹' 소속인 로베르토 칼데롤리 지방자치부 장관의 목에 이탈리아 국기를 묶으려고 시도하면서였다.돈노의 행동은 '원하는 지역에는 더 많은 자치권을 부여한다'는 현 정부 정책이 '이탈리아의 통합을 약화시킨다'는 점을 보여주려는 의도였다 한다.

하지만 이에 반감을 느낀 동맹 소속 의원들이 의석에서 일제히 몰려나와 돈노 의원을 공격했다.소란은 20여 명이 뒤엉킨 난투극으로 발전했다.

이 일로 다친 돈노 의원은 휠체어에 실려 병원으로 이송됐다.M5S는 "심각하고 수치스러운 공격"이라고 목소리를 높였다.그러나 동맹 의원들을 비롯해 조르자 멜로니 이탈리아 총리가 이끄는 이탈리아형제들(Fdl)은 돈노 의원이 이번 사건을 시작했을 뿐만 아니라 부상은 위조된 것이라고 비난했다.

이탈리아 의회에서는 종종 폭력 사태가 벌어지곤 한다.2021년에는 Fdl 소속 의원들이 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 보건 법안에 대한 의회 토론을 막으려 의사당 중앙을 점거하기도 했다고 AFP는 전했다.
