(베이징=뉴스1) 정은지 특파원 = 중국 자동차 기업이 중국 정부에 엔진 배기량 2.5ℓ 이상 고배기량 휘발유 수입차량에 대한 관세 인상을 적극적으로 고려할 것을 제안했다고 중국 관영 환구시보가 19일 보도했다.

보도에 따르면 전일 중국과 유럽 자동차 기업은 비공개 회의를 개최했다.

이 자리에서 중국 자동차 기업 및 유관 협회는 유럽연합(EU)이 7월부터 중국산 전기차에 17.4~38.1%의 상계관세를 부과한다고 밝힌 데 대해 강한 불만을 표명했다.

또한 정부가 단호하게 대응 조치를 취할 것을 촉구하며 고배기량 휘발유 수입차량에 대한 관세 인상을 적극적으로 고려할 것을 제안했다.

이번 회의에 참석한 유럽 자동차 기업도 EU가 중국 전기차에 상계관사를 부과하는 것에 대해 반대한다는 입장을 표명하면서 "중국과 EU가 조속히 협상을 시작해 중국과 EU 간 무역 마찰이 심화되는 것을 방지하기를 희망한다"는 의견을 냈다고 환구시보는 전했다.

환구시보는 "이날 회의에서 중-유럽 자동차 기업들은 보호무역주의를 반대하고 규칙에 기반한 자유무역을 수호할 것을 공동으로 호소했다"고 설명했다.

한편 EU가 중국산 전기차에 상계관세를 부과한다고 발표한 이후 중국은 유럽산 돼지고기 및 부산물에 대해 반덤핑 조사를 시작한다고 밝혔다.
