국가유산청은 일본제국주의의 침략에 맞서 항일 의병운동을 이끈 의병장 면암 최익현(1833~1907)의 의복인 단령(團領)과 머리에 썼던 사모(紗帽),아시안컵 농구 태국허리띠인 삽금대(鈒金帶),호패(號牌),아시안컵 농구 태국목화(木靴) 등 총 5건의 유물을 국가민속문화유산‘면암 최익현 관복 일괄’로 지정 예고한다고 1일 밝혔다.

이번에 지정 예고되는 5건의 관복 일괄은 19세기 후반기 복식 연구뿐 아니라 공예 기술과 재료 연구를 위한 실증적 자료로서 가치가 높다는 것의 국가유산청의 설명이다.

▲ 단령은 최익현이 당하관이던 시기(1855~1870)에 착용한 것으로,아시안컵 농구 태국조선 후기 전형적인 당하관용 흑단령(黑團領)의 형태와 제작 양식을 지니고 있다.또 ▲ 사모는 양쪽 뿔에 얇고 성근 평직 원단이 겹으로 씌워져 어른거리는 무늬가 생기는 것이 특징인 당상관용 관모로서,최익현이 당상관의 관직을 받은 1870년 이후의 것이다.대나무와 한지로 모자 틀을 만들고 양쪽 뿔의 테두리에 가늘게 쪼갠 대나무를 사용한 점 등 조선시대 사모 제작 기술과 기본 재료를 확인할 수 있는 유물이다.

▲ 삽금대는 개항기 조선에 소개된 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트로 추정되는 신소재로 제작한 모조 대모(玳瑁) 재질의 띠돈을 부착하여 제작한 것으로,19세기 말 공예 기술의 변화 양상을 대변하는 유물로서 가치를 지닌다.▲ 호패는 제작 연대(을묘·1855년)와 최익현의 이름(崔益鉉)이 새겨져 있어 착용자와 제작 시기를 분명하게 밝혀주고 있다.▲ 목화는 신의 밑창이 앞코까지 올라오는 형태에서 평평한 형태로 변화하는 과도기에 해당하는 1870~1880년대의 유물로서 이 시기 목화 제작 기술을 파악할 수 있다는 자료적 가치가 있다.

국가유산청은 “이번에 국가민속문화유산으로 지정 예고한‘면암 최익현 관복 일괄’5건에 대해 30일간의 예고기간 중 수렴된 의견을 검토하고,아시안컵 농구 태국문화유산위원회 심의를 거쳐 국가민속문화유산으로 지정할 예정”이라고 설명했다.
