전북특별자치도 완주군의회는 2일 완주·전주 통합 반대 특별위원회(반대 특별위)를 구성하고 본격적인 통합반대 활동에 나섰다.

이날 완주군의회는 제285회 완주군의회 임시회 2차 본회의를 열고 완주·전주 통합반대 특별위원회 구성안을 통과시켰다.

이에 앞서 지난 1일 1차 본회의에서는 완주·전주 통합반대 특별위원회 위원장에 서남용 의원을,부위원장에 이주갑 의원을 각각 선임했다.

반대특별위는 행정통합에 따른 문제점으로 ▲완주군 특성·문화 등 자치권 훼손 우려 ▲재정감소와 지방세 부담 증가 ▲공공서비스의 질 저하와 지역 낙후 ▲관공서 폐지로 인한 지역경제 침체 등을 들었다.

앞으로 반대특별위는 완주군민을 대상으로 반대 서명운동에 이어 오는 3일 삼례읍을 시작으로 고산면,카지노 엑스봉동읍,카지노 엑스용진읍 등 지역을 순회하며 완주·전주 통합반대 캠페인을 전개할 계획이다.

서남용 위원장은 “통합을 위해선 복잡한 행정절차가 선행돼야 하고,통합 이후에도 사회적 비용과 과도한 행정력 낭비 등이 수반될 것”이라며 “이로 인해 완주군에 막대한 재정적 부담과 도시 각 분야의 역량을 소모적으로 낭비할 뿐”이라고 반대 입장을 분명히 했다.

서 위원장은 “반대특별위는 앞으로 통합사례 연구 및 통합 장단점 분석 등을 토대로 전주와의 행정통합이 완주지역 및 전북 발전,군민의 삶에 미치게 될 다양한 문제점 등을 면밀히 분석할 계획”이라면서 “앞으로 완주군민들에게 명확한 정보를 제공하고,카지노 엑스주민들의 의견을 수렴하기 위한 활동을 펼쳐 나갈 예정”이라고 밝혔다.
