제22대 국회의원 선거 과정에서 여론조사 거짓 응답을 유도한 혐의를 받는 정동영 더불어민주당 의원이 검찰에 넘겨졌다.

전북 전주덕진경찰서는 지난 8일 공직선거법 위반 혐의로 정 의원을 검찰에 송치했다고 12일 밝혔다.

정 의원은 지난해 12월 한 여론조사를 앞두고 연령을 20대로 해달라고 유도한 혐의를 받고 있다.

당시 정 의원은 “20대들은 죽으라고 (여론조사) 전화를 안 받는다.받아도 여론조사라고 하면 끊어버린다.여러분이 20대를 좀 해주십사”라는 취지로 말해 거짓응답을 유도한 혐의로 경찰에 고발됐다.

공직선거법 108조는 당내경선을 위한 여론조사의 결과에 영향을 미치게 하기 위해 다수의 선거구민을 대상으로 성별·연령 등을 거짓으로 응답하도록 지시·권유·유도하는 행위를 해서는 안된다고 규정하고 있다.
