검찰동우회가 더불어민주당이 추진하는 검사 탄핵소추안에 반발했다.검찰동우회는 1984년 전·현직 검사들이 친목과 정보교환을 목적으로 조직한 단체다.

검찰동우회는 3일 입장문을 내고 "민주당의 이재명 대표를 수사,김도영 야구기소한 검사들에 대한 탄핵소추는 명백한 위법으로 국회의원 신분을 이용한 직권남용"이라며 "탄핵사유가 근거없음이 명백함에도 억지논리를 앞세워 이재명 담당 검사들에 대한 탄핵소추를 하고 이를 공개함은 검사들에 대한 명예훼손이자 불법행위"라고 밝혔다.

검찰동우회는 "이번 검사들에 대한 탄핵소추는 그 부당함이 명백하므로 헌법재판소는 이를 즉각 기각하고 법원은 이재명 사건을 신속히 재판해 헌법상 삼권분립 원칙에 따른 사법부의 입법독주에 대한 견제역할을 충실히 해야 할 것"이라며 "검찰은 민주당의 검찰말살,김도영 야구검사겁박 행태에 단호히 대응할 것을 강력히 촉구한다"고 덧붙였다.

앞서 민주당은 지난 2일 이 전 대표의 대장동·백현동 의혹을 수사한 엄희준·강백신 검사 등 4명에 대해 탄핵소추안을 발의했다.

이원석 검찰총장은 탄핵소추안 발의 직후 기자회견을 열고 "민주당의 검사 탄핵을 한 마디로 규정한다면 '이재명 (전) 대표라는 권력자를 수사하고 재판하는 검사를 탄핵해 수사와 재판을 못하게 만들고 권력자의 형사처벌을 모면하겠다'는 것"이라며 "법원의 법정을 국회로 옮겨와서 피고인인 이재명 대표가 재판장을 맡고 민주당이 사법부의 역할을 빼앗아와 재판을 직접 다시하겠다는 것과 같다"고 비판했다.
