[서울=뉴시스] 김예진 기자 = 일본 후쿠시마(福島) 제1 원자력발전소 6호기 원자로 사용후핵연료 냉각설비가 18일 정지됐다고 운영사 도쿄전력이 발표했다.

현지 공영 NHK,쿠팡플레이 야구중계지지통신 등에 따르면 도쿄전력은 해당 원자로 건물 주전원이 중단되면서 냉각 설비가 정지했다고 밝혔다.

도쿄전력은 안전 확인이 끝나는 대로 비상용 전원으로 전환해 냉각을 재개하겠다고 했다.정전 발전 직후 원자로 건물 내 화재경보기도 작동한 바 있어 관련 조사에도 나서겠다고 했다.

도쿄전력에 따르면 이날 오전 8시 33분께 6호기 건물 내 정전이 발생하면서 냉각용 물을 보내는 펌프가 작동을 멈췄다.약 2분 후 건물 내 화재경보기까지 작동했으며 작업원이 연기가 나는 것을 확인했다.

이에 소방대가 출동했으나 화재는 확인되지 않았다.

해당 건물에는 약 1400개의 사용후핵연료가 보관돼 있다.

도쿄전력은 "펌프가 정지해도 핵연료는 충분히 냉각되고 있어 즉시 문제는 없다"고 밝혔다.
