[서울=뉴시스] 이수지 기자 = 국가유산청 창덕궁관리소는 오는 17일부터 8월18일까지 매주 수~일요일 창덕궁 약방을 '무더위 쉼터'로 개방한다.

창덕궁 궐내각사 권역에 있는 약방은 지난 2005년 복원을 마치고 특별전 등 각종 행사공간으로 활용되고 있다.

이번 약방 개방은 여름철 안전사고 예방차원에서관람객이 폭염을 피해 쉬어가는 실내공간을 제공하고 국민의 문화유산 향유 기회를 확대하기 위한 취지다.

개방기간 동안 관람객들은 약탕 조제도구 등 재현품 전시를 관람할 수 있다.

매주 금·토요일에 진행된 약향주머니 만들기 체험에도 참가할 수 있다.선착순 50명이다.

내의원에서 올린 청량음료 제호탕과 오미자도 시음할 수 있다.매일 오후 1시부터 약 100잔 씩 재료 소진 시까지 무료로 제공된다.

제호탕은 더위와 열을 식히고 갈증을 해소해 주는 음료다.단옷날 궁중 내의원에서 제호탕을 만들어 올리면 임금이 기로소에 하사했다는 기록이 있다.

온열질환 해소 탕제로 활용됐던 오미자는 기호 식품으로 선호도가 높았다.조선왕조실록에는 성종이 온열질환을 앓을 때 오미자탕을 처방받았다고 기록되어 있다.영조가 평소 오미자차를 즐겨 마셨다는 기록도 있다.

약방 내부입장은 창덕궁 관람객 누구나 무료로 이용할 수 있다.

행사 기간에 약방을 방문하는 외국인 관람객은 한국한의학연구원 동의보감사업단에서 기증한 '동의보감 다국어 핸드북'을 받을 수 있다.
