삼성SDI는 성균관대와 배터리 전문 인력 양성을 위한‘배터리공학과’를 신설한다고 12일 밝혔다.

양측은 11일 경기 수원 성균관대 자연과학캠퍼스에서‘배터리공학과 설치 협약식’을 개최했다.협약식에는 성균관대에서 유지범 총장,서울대입구역 토토윤원섭 배터리공학과 대표 교수,김지만 자연과학대학장이 삼성SDI에서 최윤호 대표(사장),김윤창 SDI연구소장(부사장),안재우 피플팀장(부사장) 등이 참석했다.

배터리공학과는 채용 연계형 계약학과로 공과대학 학사 4년제 과정으로 운영된다.성균관대는 2026년부터 10년간 매년 30명 규모의 신입생을 선발할 계획이다.

입학생에게는 배터리 소재부터 셀,모듈,팩까지 맞춤 교육이 제공된다.해당 학과를 졸업한 학생에게는 삼성SDI에 입사할 수 있는 혜택이 주어진다.

이번 배터리공학과 신설은 급성장하고 있는 배터리 분야를 선도할 전문 인력을 육성하고,서울대입구역 토토국가 핵심 전략 산업 인재 양성에 동참하기 위한 것이다.

최 사장은 “우수 인재의 확보와 양성은 삼성SDI의 미래 경쟁력”이라며 “성균관대와 협약을 통해 배터리 시장을 리드할 수 있는 인재를 확보해 글로벌 톱티어 회사로서 초격차 기술경쟁력을 더욱 확고히 하겠다”고 말했다.

유 총장은 “오늘의 협약식은 배터리공학 분야의 선도적 역할을 위한 새로운 출발점”이라며 “배터리 기술의 중요성이 나날이 커지는 흐름 속에서 양측은 상호 신뢰와 협력을 바탕으로 지속적인 발전을 도모하겠다”고 밝혔다.

삼성SDI는 2021년부터 포항공대(포스텍),서울대,KAIST,한양대,성균관대,울산과학기술원(UNIST) 등과 배터리 우수인재양성 과정을 운영 중이며 향후에 배터리 계약학과를 확대할 계획이다.

또 2022년부터 박사급 인재 채용을 위한 설명회인‘테크&커리어(T&C) 포럼’을 개최해 우수 인재를 발굴하고 있다.국내에서 처음 시작한 T&C 포럼은 해외 인재 확보를 위해 미국 뉴욕과 실리콘밸리,독일 뮌헨 등에서도 개최된다.김지윤 기자
