취저우시에서 청두시로 갈 예정이었던 이 여객기는 오후 8시 45분경 이륙할 예정이었으나 연착으로 인해 대기 중이었다.

이때 여성 승객 A씨가 비상문을 열어 비상탈출 슬라이드가 펼쳐졌다.이로 인해 비행편이 취소돼 승객 전원이 여객기에서 내려야했다.

탑승객들은 각 400위안(약 7만 6000원) 상당 보상금을 수령하고 호텔에서 대기해야 했다.

처음 비행기를 탄 A씨는 경찰 조사과정에서 비상문을 기내 화장실로 착각해 잘못 문을 열었다고 진술한 것으로 전해졌다.

한 탑승객은 매체와의 인터뷰에서 “대피 슬라이드가 펼쳐지자 승무원들이 깜짝 놀랐다”며 “A씨는 손해배상을 해야 한다는 말에 눈물을 흘리고 있었다”고 당시 상황을 전했다.

항공기 비상구는 비상 상황에서 작동할 수 있도록 비교적 쉽게 열릴 수 있게 설계됐다.다만 한 번 열려 비상탈출 슬라이드가 펼쳐지면 항공기 보수를 위해 며칠간 해당 항공기 운항이 중단될 수 있다.

SCMP는 비상탈출 슬라이드 작동 시 재사용이 불가해 10만~20만 위안(약 1897만~3794만 원)의 비용이 든다고 전했다.
