2004년 영월에서 발생한 '영농조합 간사 살인 사건',두산 선발그동안 장기 미제로 남아 있었던 이 사건의 유력한 용의자가 사건 발생 20년 만에 구속됐습니다.

이현기 기자입니다.

출입 통제선과 현장을 지키는 경찰관.

2004년 8월 강원도 영월에서 40대 영농조합 간사가 사무실에서 흉기에 찔려 숨진 채 발견됐습니다.

하지만 범인을 추정할만한 결정적 단서가 없어 사건은 미궁에 빠졌습니다.

그러다 2020년,두산 선발국과수가 범행 현장에서 발견된 족적이 유력 용의자인 송 모 씨의 족적과 일치한다는 결과를 내놨습니다.

검찰은 이를 토대로 3년여 동안 보강 수사를 벌여 송 씨의 구속 영장을 청구했습니다.

영장실질심사에 출석한 송 씨는 범행 사실을 부인했습니다.

[송○○/살인 피의자/음성변조 : "경찰에서 얘기하는 시간대에 저는 그 계곡에서 동생들하고 아이들하고 사진을 찍은 사실이 있습니다."]

법원은 증거 인멸과 도주 우려가 있다며 5시간 만에 송 씨의 구속영장을 발부했습니다.

사건이 일어난 지 20년 만입니다.

법원은 피의자가 당시 수사기관에 제출한 샌들이 범행 현장의 족적과 99.9% 일치해 다른 사람이 범행을 저질렀을 가능성은 극히 낮다고 판단했습니다.

또 사건 당시 다른 곳에 있었다는 피의자의 주장은 통화 착신 내역 등에 비춰 의심스러운 대목이라고 밝혔습니다.

검찰은 피의자에 대한 추가 수사를 벌여 살인사건의 전모를 밝힐 계획입니다.
