탈북 청소년들을 성추행한 혐의로 구속기소된 목사 천 모 씨가 2심에서도 실형을 선고받았습니다.

서울고법 형사12-1부는 오늘(16일) 낮 2시 40분 아동청소년 성보호법 위반 등 혐의로 기소된 천 씨의 항소심 선고기일을 열고 1심과 같은 징역 5년을 선고했습니다.

80시간의 성폭력 치료프로그램 이수와 1심에선 내려지지 않았던 5년간의 아동청소년·장애인 관련 기관 취업 제한도 명령했습니다.

재판부는 천 씨의 혐의 대부분을 유죄로 인정하며 "천 씨는 탈북자이거나 이들의 자녀인 피해자들에게 절대적 영향력을 미치는 지위에 있으면서 범행을 저질러 비난 가능성이 크다"고 질책했습니다.

이어 "천 씨는 범행을 극구 부인하며 반성하지 않고,미즈노 포수미트사건을 무마하기 위해 일부 피해자에게 일정 금원을 지급했을 뿐 피해 회복을 위해 노력하지도 않았다"며 "피해자들이 처벌을 원하는 점 등을 양형에 고려했다"고 설명했습니다.

천 씨는 1999년부터 북한 주민 1천 명의 탈북을 도운 '아시아의 쉰들러'로 외신에 소개되기도 한 인물입니다.

그는 2016∼2023년 교장을 맡은 대안학교 기숙사에서 탈북 청소년 또는 탈북민 자녀 6명을 8차례 추행한 혐의로 재판에 넘겨졌습니다.
