[픽사베이 제공] 이더리움 현물 상장지수펀드(ETF) 최종 승인이 임박했다는 소식에 이더리움이 강세를 보이고 있다.

가상화폐 시황정보 사이트 코인마켓캡에 따르면 19일 오후 5시 현재 이더리움 가격은 24시간 전 대비 2.90% 오른 3543달러선에서 거래 중이다.일주일 전과 비교하면 0.53% 오른 수치다.

이날 이더리움 현물 ETF 거래를 위한 증권신고서(S-1) 승인이 임박했다는 보도가 나오면서 투자심리에 영향을 미친 것으로 풀이된다.

18일(현지시간) 미 가상화폐 전문매체 더블록은 익명의 소식통을 인용해 이더리움 현물 ETF 발행사 두 곳이 지난 주 미 증권거래위원회(SEC)로부터 증권신고서에 대한 의견을 받았으며 수정본을 준비 중이라고 보도했다.

수정본 제출 마감 기한은 현지시간으로 오는 21일이다.

앞서 지난 5월 SEC는 블랙록,랜덤 키워드 룰렛피델리티,랜덤 키워드 룰렛그레이스케일 등 자산운용사 8곳이 신청한 이더리움 현물 ETF의 심사요청서(19b-4)를 승인한 바 있다.

하지만 이더리움 현물 ETF가 증권시장에서 거래되려면 S-1 승인이 필요하다

에릭 발추나스 블룸버그 ETF 전문 애널리스트는 이더리움 현물 ETF 출시 시점을 내달 2일로 전망했다.

한편 이더리움에 대한 감독당국의 규제 조사가 완화될 수 있다는 관측도 이더리움 강세에 영향을 미쳤다.

이더리움 개발사 컨센시스는 X(엑스·옛 트위터)를 통해 "SEC 집행부가 이더리움 2.0에 대한 조사를 종결한다고 통보했다"고 밝혔다.

앞서 SEC는 이더리움이 미등록 증권인지 여부에 대해 조사해왔는데 이같은 불확실성이 해소될 수 있다는 기대감이 반영된 것으로 보인다.

한편 같은 시각 가상화폐 대장주 비트코인은 24시간 전보다 0.52% 내린 6만5326달러에 거래 중이다.
