마르그레테 베스타게르 EU 수석 부집행위원장은 “애플은 아이폰의 탭앤고 기술에 경쟁업체들의 접근을 허용하기로 약속했다”며 “애플페이에 관한 반독점법 위반 조사를 종결할 것”이라고 말했다.탭앤고란 근거리무선통신(NFC) 기능을 활용해 휴대폰을 신용카드처럼 사용할 수 있게 하는 기술이다.

베스타게르 부집행위원장은 이 같은 조치가 향후 10년간 유지될 것이라며 애플이 약속을 이행하지 않으면 연간 전체 매출의 최대 10%까지 과징금을 부과할 것이라고 설명했다.EU 집행위는 2020년부터 애플페이에 대한 독과점 위반 여부를 조사를 해왔다.
