30일 업계에 따르면 LG전자는 지난 28일 자사 홈페이지에 새롭게 제정한 '인권 원칙'을 발표했다.그간 여러 곳으로 흩어져 있던 인권 관련 방침을 한데 모으고 대상을 직원,협력사뿐 아니라 지역사회,고객,정부,투자자까지 포함했다.

LG전자 인권 원칙은 기업에 인권 존중 책임이 있음을 인지하고 관련 국제기준을 존중하는 의미로 다양한 사내 인권 방침을 통합,최초로 제정됐다.LG전자는 '유엔 기업과 인권 이행원칙'(UNGPs)에 따라 자가 점검,신촌 월드컵제3자 점검 및 현장 심사,고충 처리 접수,이해관계자 소통 등을 고려한 인권 영향 평가를 통해 주요 인권 영향 영역을 선정하고 이를 인권 원칙에 구체적으로 명시했다.차별 및 괴롭힘 금지,강제노동 금지,신촌 월드컵아동노동 금지,근로 시간,임금과 복리후생,신촌 월드컵다양성 및 포용성,신촌 월드컵인공지능(AI) 윤리 등이다.

LG전자는 원칙 제정을 계기로 이해관계자의 인권 침해 가능성을 사전에 파악해 방지하고 이미 발생한 영향에 대해 보다 체계적인 대응이 가능해질 것으로 기대하고 있다.

특히 지난 4월 '유럽연합(EU) 기업 지속가능성 실사 지침'이 EU 의회 본회의를 통과되면서 전 세계적으로 인권 경영의 중요성이 부각되고 있다.기업들도 이를 통해 지속가능한 성장을 추구하고 세계 시장에서도 인권 관련 이슈와 관련해 기민하게 대응한다는 방침이다.

한편 LG전자는 '2023-2024 지속가능경영보고서'를 통해 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영활동의 비전과 '모두의 더 나은 삶'(Better Life for All)을 실현하기 위한 6대 전략 과제의 분야별 성과 및 달성 전략도 공개했다.
