다우·나스닥도 상승…소매판매 예상 밑돌았으나 조기 금리인하 기대감 ↑

(뉴욕=연합뉴스) 이지헌 특파원 = 18일(현지시간) 미국 증시에서 스탠다드앤드푸어스(S&P) 500 지수가 '인공지능(AI) 붐'을 주도하는 엔비디아 급등에 힘입어 연일 최고가를 경신하며 마감했다.

엔비디아는 이날 마이크로소프트(MS)를 제치고 시총 1위 기업으로 등극했다.

이날 뉴욕증시에서 S&P 500 지수는 전장보다 13.80포인트(0.25%) 오른 5,487.03에 거래를 마쳤다.

S&P 500 지수는 전날 최고가 기록을 경신한 데 이어 이날도 오르면서 올해 들어 31번째 최고가 기록을 썼다.

다우존스30 산업평균지수는 전장보다 56.76포인트(0.15%) 오른 38,야구 대한민국 대만834.86에,야구 대한민국 대만기술주 중심의 나스닥 지수는 전장보다 5.21포인트(0.03%) 오른 17,862.23에 각각 마감했다.

엔비디아는 이날 3.51% 올라 지수 상승을 주도했다.이날 종가 기준으로 엔비디아의 시가총액은 3조3천400억달러(약 4천600조원)로 MS(3조3천200억달러)를 추월,시총 1위 기업으로 올라섰다.

퀄컴(2.19%),마이크론(3.8%) 등 다른 반도체 종목도 이날 동반 강세를 보였다.

이날 발표된 5월 미 소매판매가 전월 대비 0.1% 증가한 것으로 나타난 것은 미국 경기의 악화 우려를 키웠다.

다만,미 연방준비제도(Fed·연준)의 조기 금리인하 기대를 높이면서 미 증시에는 복합적인 영향을 미쳤다.

인디펜던트 어드바이저 얼라이언스의 크리스 자카렐리 최고 투자책임자는 "소비자가 없으면 이 강세장이 멈출 것"이라며 "투자자들은 이번 소매 판매 보고서가 시사하는 것처럼 실질적인 경기둔화가 아닌 더 많은 소비지출을 보고자 한다"라고 말했다.
