오름은 미국 제약사 버텍스 파마슈티컬(이하 버텍스)과 '이중 정밀 표적 단백질 분해 기술'에 대한 라이센스 계약을 체결했다고 16일 밝혔다.

버텍스는 유전자 치료제 시장의 선두주자다.차세대 유전자 가위(크리스퍼 유전자 가위)를 활용한 치료제로는 처음으로 미국 식품의약국(FDA) 승인을 받았다.이번에 이전한 오름의 기술을 활용해 유전자편집 치료제의 새로운 전처치제를 발굴하기 위한 연구를 진행할 예정이다.

해당 연구가 종료되면,랭크카지노버텍스는 오름의 단백질 분해 기술을 통해 개발한 '항체-분해약물접합체(DAC)'에 대한 전 세계 독점 라이선스를 취득할 권리를 가진다.항체-분해약물접합체는 암세포를 찾아내는 항체와 암세포 표면의 표적단백질을 녹여 없애는 약물이 이어진 형태의 치료제다.질병의 원인이 되는 표적단백질을 찾아 없앨 수 있어 차세대 표적치료제로 주목받고 있다.

이번 계약으로 오름은 1500만달러(약 200억원)의 선급금과 추가 옵션 기술료를 지급받게 된다.하나의 표적단백질 연구마다 최대 3억1000만달러(약 4300억원)의 옵션 기술료가 발생하는데,랭크카지노최대 3건의 연구가 진행될 수 있음을 감안하면 총 계약 규모는 9억2500만달러(약 1조3000억원)에 달한다.여기에 추후 글로벌 매출에 대한 단계별 로열티도 발생한다.
