이날 미국 상무부가 발표한 1분기 실질 국내총생산(GDP)이 전 분기 대비 연율(年率·분기 성장을 연간으로 환산한 것)로 1.4% 증가했다.지난 달 발표된 잠정치(1.3%)와 비슷한 수준이다.이와 함께 마이크론과 월그린 등 일부 기업이 실적 전망을 하향 조정하면서 투자자들이 관망하는 분위기를 보였다.

개인소비지출(PCE) 가격지수 상승률은 1분기 연율로 3.4%를 기록했다.지난달 발표된 잠정치 대비 0.1%포인트 올라갔다.이 지수는 미국 중앙은행인 연준이 기준금리를 결정하면서 가장 중요하게 지켜보는 지표다.PCE가격지수가 높게 나오면 그만큼 물가가 높다는 뜻이므로 연준은 높은 기준금리로 대응하게 된다.

이날 미국 반도체 업체인 마이크론은 개장 후 5% 이상 하락했다.2024회계연도 4분기(6~8월) 매출이 76억달러일 것이라고 발표한 것이 악재가 됐다.이는 월스트리트 전문가들이 80억달러를 넘을 것으로 예상한 것에 비해 상대적으로 저조한 수치다.

또 약국 체인점인 월그린은 20% 넘게 내렸다.이 회사 역시 이날 공개한 올해 매출 전망치가 투자자들의 예상을 밑돈 영향이다.
