미국이 설치한 가자지구 임시부두

(서울=연합뉴스) 서혜림 기자 = 미국이 가자지구에 대한 인도적 지원을 위해 설치한 임시 부두의 운영을 조만간 재개할 예정이다.

7일(현지시간) AP통신 등 외신에 따르면 브래드 쿠퍼 미 중부사령부 부사령관은 이날 전화 브리핑에서 폭풍으로 파손된 임시 부두를 복구해 "성공적으로 해변에 연결했다"며 "앞으로 며칠 안에 해상을 통한 구호품 전달을 재개할 것으로 예상한다"고 밝혔다.

앞서 미국 정부는 가자지구 전쟁으로 인도적 위기가 심화하자 구호품 전달을 위한 해상 통로를 확보하고자 가자지구 해안에 임시부두를 만들어 지난 달 17일 가동을 시작했다.

하지만 지난 달 25일 임시 부두가 폭풍으로 인한 심한 파도에 파손되자,슬롯 나라 home손상된 구간을 이스라엘로 보내 수리 작업을 진행했다.

쿠퍼 부사령관은 복구된 임시 부두의 운영을 확대할 예정이라며 격일로 500톤(t) 이상의 식량과 물품을 가자지구로 공급하는 것을 목표로 한다고 설명했다.

미국의 대외원조기관인 국제개발처(USAID)는 성명을 통해 임시 부두를 통한 구호품 전달이 효과적이고 안전하게 재개될 수 있도록 가자지구 현지 인도주의 파트너 등과 협력하고 있다고 밝혔다.
