대전에서 초등학생들에 의한 동물 학대 사건이 발생했다.

16일 동물자유연대 사회관계망서비스(SNS)를 통해 대전에서 일어난 동물 학대 사건을 공개했다.

연대에 따르면 대전에서 12세 초등학생 두 명이 친구 집에 무단으로 침입해 반려묘를 죽이는 일이 발생했다.

해당 사건은 학교에도 알려져 생활교육위원회가 열려 징계가 내려졌지만 두 학생은 반성의 태도를 보이지 않고 있는 것으로 전해졌다.

이와 관련해 자유연대는 "이 사건은 피해 가족 중 보호자가 가해 학생 측 부모에게서 사과받아 고발을 취하한 상태"라며 "가해 학생들이 벌인 끔찍한 범죄를 안일하게 처리해 매우 유감스럽다"고 했다.

그러면서 "아직 한국 사회는 청소년 동물 학대 범죄에 대해 별다른 대책조차 마련하지 못하고 있는 상황"이라며 "어린 학생들 동물 학대 범죄 행위가 심각한 수준임을 시민들에게 알리고 싶다"고 했다.
