ISS 측은 27일(현지시각) 소셜미디어 X(구 트위터)를 통해 전날 정거장 인근에서 위성 1기가 파손됐다는 소식을 듣고 정거장 주재 비행사들이 대피했다고 밝혔다.비행사들은 표준 예방 조치 차원에서 각자 우주선을 타고 대피한 것으로 알려졌다.

ISS는 미션통제센터를 통해 파손된 위성 잔해를 계속 관찰했으며,아시안컵 호주 한국약 한 시간이 지난 후 비행사들은 각자 우주선에서 나왔다고 한다.이후 ISS 정거장은 정상적으로 재가동됐다.이번 일은 미국 동부시간 오후 9시(한국 시각 오전 10시)께 발생했다.

미국군 우주사령부는 이번 일과 관련해 성명을 내고 "지구 저궤도에서 26일 발생한 러시아 소유 폐쇄 위성 RESURS-P1 파손으로 100개 이상의 추적 가능한 잔해가 발생했다"라고 전했다.다만 "즉각적 위협은 발견하지 못했다"라고 했다.

우주군사령부는 "우주 공간의 안전과 지속가능성을 지원하기 위해 정기적인 평가를 계속하고 있다"라며 각국 정부와 동맹 및 상업 조직을 비롯해 위성 소유주인 러시아 측에 관련 내용을 통보했다고 설명했다．
