(서울=뉴스1) 금준혁 기자 = 현대자동차(005380)는 12일 세계 최초의 양산형 대형 수소전기트럭인 엑시언트가 2020년 10월 스위스에서 첫 운행을 시작한 지 3년 8개월 만에 누적 주행거리 1000만㎞를 돌파했다고 밝혔다.

현재 스위스에서 총 48대가 운행 중이다.2개의 수소연료전지로 구성된 180kw급 수소연료전지시스템과 최대출력 350kW급 구동모터를 탑재해 1회 충전 시 최대 400㎞를 주행할 수 있다.

엑시언트는 일반 디젤 상용 트럭과 달리 주행 중에 이산화탄소를 배출하지 않고 순수한 물만 배출한다.일반 디젤 상용 트럭은 1000만㎞를 운행하면 약 6300톤의 이산화탄소를 배출해 수소전기트럭은 주행 과정에서 그만큼의 탄소를 절감하는 효과가 있다는 것이 현대차 설명이다.이는 수령 30년의 소나무 약 70만 그루가 연간 흡수하는 탄소량으로 508만㎡의 소나무 숲을 조성하는 것과 동일하다

스위스에서 운행되는 모든 엑시언트 수소전기트럭은 생산과정에서 탄소가 발생하지 않는 그린수소만을 연료로 사용한다.현대차는 수소연료전지시스템의 고도화에 고객의 주행경험과 피드백을 중심으로 수집한 차량 데이터를 활용할 계획이다.
