8월 18일까지 40일간…바다 신호등 설치해 인명사고 제로 달성

(동해=연합뉴스) 유형재 기자 = 강원 동해시는 10일부터 8월 18일 40일간 망상 등 6개 해수욕장을 운영한다고 3일 밝혔다.

시는 10일 망상해수욕장에서 관계기관과 단체,해수욕장 근무자,시민 등 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 안전 기원제,개장식,월드컵 길거리현판제막식 등 개장행사를 열고 해수욕장 운영을 시작한다.

해수욕장의 수영 가능 시간은 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지다.

그러나 망상·추암해수욕장은 성수기인 26일부터 8월 4일까지 10일간 수영 가능 시간을 1시간 연장한다.

동해시 대표 해수욕장인 명사십리 망상해수욕장에는 어린이 물놀이장과 불꽃놀이 존을 운영한다.

시는 안전하고 원활한 해수욕장 운영을 위해 수상안전요원,야간안전관리원,월드컵 길거리망상해수욕장 철도 건널목 안전관리원,교통주차관리원,질서계도원 등을 배치하고 안전 관련 장비를 확충했다.

또한,해수욕장 백사장 토양오염도 검사와 수질검사를 실시하는 등 피서객 안전에 철저히 대비한다는 방침이다.

특히,바다 신호등을 설치해 실시간 해상기상 정보를 제공,작년 해수욕장 인명사고 제로 달성에 이어 올해도 인명사고 제로 달성에 행정력을 집중하기로 했다.

해수욕장 개장 기간 27∼30일 추암해수욕장에서는 버스킹 공연,망상해수욕장에서는 31∼8월 4일까지 '2024 동해 비치페스티벌 힙바다-힙해',27∼28일 '제20회 동트는 동해배 전국남녀비치발리볼대회'가 열려 뜨거운 모래 해변을 시원하게 식힐 예정이다.

이선우 관광개발과장 "안전하고 쾌적한 해수욕장 운영으로 피서객들이 편안하고 기억에 남는 휴가가 될 수 있게 하겠다"고 말했다.
