한국기자협회(회장 박종현)는 13일 오후 3시 서울 중구 프레스센터 20층 국제회의장에서 창립 60주년 기념행사를 개최한다.

행사는 박종현 회장의 감사 인사말과 윤석열 대통령 축하 인사,우원식 의장 등의 축사,기자협회 고문으로 활동하고 있는 역대 회장들에 대한 공로패 수여,프로야구 병역비리협회 발전에 기여한 단체에 대한 감사패 전달,프로야구 병역비리창립 60주년을 기념해 시행한 4행시 공모 수상작 시상,프로야구 병역비리특별 이벤트 순으로 진행된다.

한국기자협회는 1960년대 군사정권이 추진하던 비민주적 악법인 언론윤리위원회법 저지를 위한 투쟁의 구심체로 1964년 8월 17일 창립됐다.

창립 선언문에 언론자유수호,프로야구 병역비리기자 자질향상,기자권익옹호,프로야구 병역비리조국의 평화통일,프로야구 병역비리국제교류 강화 등 5대 강령을 발표한 이래 한국 현대사에 크고 작은 궤적을 만들어 왔다.

행사에선 창립 60주년 기념식에 이어 2부 프로그램으로‘제19회 기자의날 기념식’이 열린다.

기자의날은 1980년 5월 20일 신군부의 언론검열에 반대하며 한국기자협회를 중심으로 제작거부 투쟁에 나섰던 기자들의 정신을 되새기기 위해 2006년 제정됐다.

기자의날 기념식에서는 1980년 6월 신군부의 언론검열에 맞서 싸우다 해직된 노성대 전 MBC 사장이‘기자의 혼(魂)’상을 수상할 예정이다.
