뇌사 상태에 빠진 전 인라인스케이트 국가대표 선수가 장기기증을 통해 3명의 생명을 살리고 세상을 떠났습니다.

한국장기조직기증원은 지난 3월 15일 44세 김대철 씨가 가톨릭대 은평성모병원에서 뇌사 장기기증으로 3명에 간장과 좌우 신장을 기증했다고 오늘(5일) 밝혔습니다.

기증원과 유족에 따르면 갑상선 수술을 받은 김 씨는 수술 부위 이상으로 지난 2월 13일 병원으로 응급 이송됐다가 이송 중 심정지가 발생해 뇌사 상태에 빠졌습니다.

이후 김 씨의 상태가 점점 악화하자 가족들은 김 씨가 삶의 끝에서 누군가를 살리는 좋은 일을 하고 간 사람으로 남기를 바라는 마음에 기증을 결심했습니다.

유족들은 고인이 책임감이 강하고 따뜻한 사람이어서 바쁜 부모를 대신해 동생을 잘 챙겨 왔으며 어려운 사람을 보면 늘 먼저 다가가 도움을 줬다고 추억했습니다.

김 씨는 인라인스케이트에 애정과 소질이 있어 국가대표로도 활동했고 대한익스트림스포츠 연맹 이사로서 많은 사람들이 인라인과 스포츠에 관심을 가질 수 있도록 노력하기도 했습니다.

김 씨의 아내 김연희 씨는 "19년간 함께 나눈 사랑과 행복한 기억들을 잊지 않고 살아가겠다"며 "당신은 듬직하고 다정한 최고의 아빠이자 남편이었다"고 고인에게 마지막 인사를 전했습니다.
