조 위원장은 "국민의힘 당 대표를 선출하는데 그렇게도 내세울 이슈가 없고,대안이 없고,로또 가사비전이 없는가"라고 하면서"배신론의 종말이 얼마나 파괴적이고 비극적이었는지 박근혜 정부 때 온 몸으로 체험해놓고도 아직도 그 타령에서 못 벗어나나"고 곱씹었다.

그러면서 "배신론을 주장하는 사람들은 자신들이 추종하는 주군이 대통령인지,로또 가사국민과 당원인지,로또 가사그것부터 분명히 해야 한다"고 의미를 부여했다.

조 위원장은 "배신론은 봉건시대 주군에 대한 맹목적 충성논리고 시대착오적이고 퇴행적이다"며 "배신론은 지도자를 위한 충정조차도 본인이 동의하지 않으면 배신과 역린으로 규정해서 단죄하고 보복한다"고 밝혔다.

조 위원장은 또 "건전한 비판과 논쟁을 봉쇄하고 건설적인 대안까지 배신의 낙인을 찍어 정죄하는 조직은 앞날이 뻔하다"면서 "역사 속에서 그런 지도자와 추종집단은 늘 공도동망했다.당의 대표를 자청하는 사람들이 그런 단세포적인 논리를 주장하고 있다는 점에서 통탄스럽다"고 덧붙였다.

조 위원장은 "겉으로는 국민의 뜻이 우선이라고 하면서 국민이 역겨워하는 봉건적 배신론을 내세우는 것은 앞뒤가 다른 행태이다"며 "눈 앞의 표계산에 매몰돼 국민의 뜻을 쉽게 거스르는 후보들의 당은 희망이 없다"고 말했다.

조해진 위원장은 "당이 살기 위해 가장 절박한 성찰과 반성,로또 가사쇄신과 개혁에 대한 비전이나 대안은 없고 낡고 고리타분한 구호나 들고나온다면 전당대회를 할 이유가 없다"고 하면서 "둘 사이에 뜻이 다를 때 본인들은 어느 쪽을 따를지 양심선언을 해야 한다"고 직격했다.
