[앵커]

북대서양조약기구 나토가 미국에서 사흘 동안의 정상회의 일정을 시작했습니다.

이번 회의에선 인도 태평양 국가들과의 협력이 논의될 예정인데,중국은 나토가 동진을 멈춰야 한다며 강하게 반발하고 있습니다.

박석호 기자입니다.

[리포트]

창설 75주년을 맞아 열리는 나토 정상회의의 핵심 의제는 우크라이나 지원 방안입니다.

패트리엇을 비롯한 방공무기체계 5기를 우선 지원하고,제노바 가방내년에도 요격미사일 지원을 계속 이어간다는 게 나토의 계획입니다.

[조 바이든/미국 대통령 : "우크라이나는 내년까지 수백 기의 요격미사일을 지원받아서 도시를 러시아의 미사일로부터 방어할 것입니다."]

이런 지원에는 우리나라와 일본을 비롯한 인도 태평양 협력국가들도 참여할 것이라고 백악관은 설명했습니다.

[제이크 설리번/미 백악관 국가안보보좌관 : "며칠 안에 나토 동맹국과 인도 태평양 협력국가들은 우크라이나 지원과 인공지능,제노바 가방허위정보,사이버보안 등 4개의 협력계획을 시작할 겁니다."]

중국은 이런 협력이 자국을 겨냥한 나토의 동진이라며 강하게 반발하고 있습니다.

나토가 끊임없이 방어 구역을 넘어서면서 대결을 조장하고 있다고 주장했습니다.

[린젠/중국 외교부 대변인/어제 : "NATO가 중국을 핑계로 아시아 태평양으로 동진하고 지역 정세를 교란시키는 것에 반대합니다."]

이와 관련해 중국은 러시아의 동맹인 벨라루스와 함께 폴란드 접경에서 합동 군사훈련에 돌입하는 등 나토에 대한 무력시위에 나섰습니다.
