인천시가 선정한 민간 시공업체는 기념식을 시작으로 인천 기점∼인하대 후문 1-1단계 구간,위험 고전압 슬롯1.8km 양쪽의 옹벽과 방음벽 철거에 들어갔습니다.

인천시는 옛 경인고속도로 인천 기점∼서인천IC,위험 고전압 슬롯10.45㎞ 구간의 옹벽과 방음벽을 철거하는 사업을 추진하고 있습니다.

이어,도시 재생을 위해 2019년 이 구간을 고속도로에서 일반도로로 전환하며 '인천대로'라는 이름을 붙였습니다.

옹벽과 방음벽이 철거되면 인천대로 곳곳에는 공원·녹지·여가 공간이 조성되고 일반도로처럼 교차로도 설치됩니다.

1968년 개통한 경인고속도로는 구간별로 필요에 따라 옹벽과 방음벽이 설치됐습니다.
