[헤럴드경제=박혜원 기자] 올해 서울 내 초·중·고등학교 학생수가 지난해에 비해 1만7000여명이 줄어든 83만여명인 것으로 집계됐다.학생수가 가장 많이 줄어든 곳은 초등학교로 불과 1년 사이 1만5000여명의 학생이 줄어들었다.이는 최근 5년 사이 가장 큰폭의 감소세다.2010년대 후반 있었던 저출생 현상 영향이 초등학교 학생수 감소로 나타나고 있는 것으로 해석된다.

10일 서울시교육청은 이같은 내용의 2024학년도 유치원,삼성전자우 배당률초등학교,중학교,고등학교,특수학교,각종학교 2128곳의 학급편성 결과를 발표했다.조사 기준 시점은 3월 11일이다.

올해 서울시 전체 학교의 학생 수는 83만7834명으로,전년 대비 1만7478명(2.0%) 감소했다.학교급별로 보면 초등학생이 가장 많이 줄고,고등학생은 오히려 늘었다.서울교육청은 “황금돼지띠(2007년생) 재학생수가 많아 고등학생 수가 늘었다”고 설명했다.

초등학생은 36만4910명으로 전년 대비 1만5529명(4.1%),삼성전자우 배당률중학생은 19만6453명으로 2195명(1.1%) 줄었다.고등학생은 20만7585명으로 1801명(0.9%) 늘었다.

학급당 학생 수는 소폭 줄었다.올해 서울 초·중·고등학교의 평균 학급당 학생 수는 23.4명으로,삼성전자우 배당률전년 대비 0.1명 늘었다.초등학교는 22.1명으로 전년 대비 0.3명 줄고 중학교는 24.9명으로 0.1명 늘었다.고등학교도 24.5명으로 0.7명 증가했다.학생 수는 줄었지만 교원과 학급 수도 함께 줄면서 이같은 결과가 나타났다는 게 서울시교육청 설명이다.

전체 학급 수는 3만9073개로 전년 대비 811개(2.0%) 줄었다.이 역시 초등학교가 453곳으로 가장 많이 줄었으며 중학교와 고등학교는 각각 125학급,삼성전자우 배당률199학급 줄었다.유치원의 경우 44학급이 줄었다.특수학교와 각종학교는 각각 3학급,7학급 증가했다.

학교 수는 총 2128곳으로 전년 대비 7곳 줄었다.유치원의 경우 사립 유치원이 8곳 줄고 공립 유치원이 2곳 늘었다.고등학교는 2개 줄고 초등학교는 1곳이 늘어났다.

서울시교육청 관계자는 “학령 인구 감소세에 따라 교육부의 교원 정원 규모 축소로 적정학급 편성에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있지만 학생 수 변동 추이,지역별·학교별 여건 등을 종합적으로 고려한 적정 학급 수 운용,삼성전자우 배당률학급당 학생 수 감축 등 교육여건 개선 노력을 지속 추진할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
