중국 자이언트판다보호·연구센터는 9일 공식 소셜미디어를 통해 "2개월여의 격리·검영과 과도기 적응을 거쳐 푸바오가 12일 판다센터 (쓰촨성 청두) 워룽 선수핑기지에서 정식으로 대중과 만난다"고 밝혔다.

이 계정에 따르면 12일 오전 9시 30분부터 후난위성TV,망고TV,야구 픽오프중국판다보호연구센터 공식 웨이보 계정 등의 라이브 방송을 통해 푸바오의 공개 행사를 직접 지켜볼 수 있다.

센터는 "푸바오의 대면식 안전 보장을 위해 워룽 선수핑기지는 11일 정오부터 오후 5시,야구 픽오프12일 오전 9시부터 정오까지 폐쇄하고,이후에는 정상적으로 방문할 수 있다"며 관람객들에게 외출·참관 시간 조정을 당부했다.

푸바오는 2016년 3월 시진핑 중국 국가주석이 한중 친선 도모의 상징으로 보내온 판다 러바오와 아이바오 사이에서 2020년 7월 20일 태어났다.이후 푸바오는 용인 에버랜드에서 생활하면서 '용인 푸씨'나 '푸공주',야구 픽오프'푸뚠뚠' 등 애칭으로 불리며 많은 사랑을 받다가,야구 픽오프태어난 지 1354일 만인 지난 4월 3일 중국으로 돌아갔다.

그러나 푸바오가 중국 현지에서 열악한 대우를 받고 있다는 이른바 '학대 의혹'이 한국·중국 네티즌들로부터 최근 잇따라 제기됐다.이에 중국 당국은 직접 반박 입장을 발표하거나 푸바오 영상을 연이어 공개하는 등 논란 진화에 애써왔다.
