KT&G는 지속가능 전략과 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영 이행 성과를 담은 통합보고서를 발간했다고 1일 밝혔다.

2023 KT&G 통합보고서에는‘글로벌 톱 티어(Top-tier) 도약’이라는 새 비전 아래 3대 핵심사업(NGP·건기식·해외궐련)의 사업구조 혁신 및 환경경영 비전 체계 확대,지배구조 고도화 등 ESG경영의 실질적 성과가 담겼다.국제회계기준(IFRS) 재단 산하 국제지속가능성기준위원회(ISSB)의 공시 기준을 참고해 기후 공시도 고도화했다.

KT&G는 그룹 차원에서 온실가스 감축 범위를 확대하고,메이저리그 야구 게임가치사슬 전반의‘넷제로(Net-Zero)’목표 시기를 기존 5년 앞당긴 2045년으로 재수립했다.자연보호 지역 내 산림 벌채 및 개간을 중지하겠다는 목표도 새롭게 공개했다.기후위기에 대한 대응 체계를 고도화해 온실가스 배출량을 2020년 대비 9% 줄인 성과가 바탕이 됐다.사업장 재생에너지 사용 비율은 19%까지 높아진 상태다.

보고서에서 회사 측은 금융위원회가 권고하는 15가지 항목의 지배구조 핵심지표를100% 준수했다고 밝혔다.이 지표는 사외이사의 이사회 의장 여부,메이저리그 야구 게임최고경영자 승계 정책 마련 및 운영,메이저리그 야구 게임집중투표제 채택 등의 항목으로 구성됐다.

방경만 KT&G 사장은 “회사의 ESG 역량은 사업구조 전환과 글로벌 성장을 촉진하는 혁신의 단초”라며 “글로벌 톱 티어 도약이라는 비전 아래 ESG에 대한 시대적 요구를 지속가능한 성장의 기회로 연결시켜 기업의 진정한‘밸류업’을 실현하고,메이저리그 야구 게임그 과정을 이해관계자들과 적극 소통해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

KT&G는 지난 2007년부터 이 같은 내용을 담은 보고서를 공개하고 있다.지속가능경영 의지를 표명하고 ESG경영에 대한 정확한 정보를 대내외에 제공한다는 취지다.
