시내 7.3㎞ 6개 정거장 순환 셔틀 자율주행 서비스 추진

충남 당진시가 지난 26일 2024년 상반기 자율주행차 시범 운행지구로 지정됐다고 27일 밝혔다.

이번 2024년 상반기 자율주행차 시범 운행지구는 총 4곳이 지정됐으며 신규 지구로는 충남 당진과 전북 군산~전주 2곳,2023-2024 UEFA 유로파 컨퍼런스리그 4강변경 지구로는 서울 중앙버스전용차로,2023-2024 UEFA 유로파 컨퍼런스리그 4강충남 내포신도시 2곳이 지정됐다.

시는 기업혁신파크 조성,2023-2024 UEFA 유로파 컨퍼런스리그 4강드론산업지원센터 개소에 이어 모빌리티 패러다임 전환에 대비한 미래 모빌리티 선도도시로 발돋움 하기 위해 지난 3월 시범 운행지구 지정을 신청했다.

이후 국토교통부 실사와 자율주행차 시범운영지구위원회(국토교통부) 심의를 거쳐 지정됐다.

이번 선정에 따라 당진시는 도심 내 주요 지점(당진시청~버스터미널~당진도서관~당진시보건소~문예의전당~당진시청)을 노선(총구간 7.3㎞,2023-2024 UEFA 유로파 컨퍼런스리그 4강6개 정거장)으로 하는 순환 셔틀 자율주행 서비스를 추진한다.

해당 서비스는 2025년 상반기부터 운영될 예정으로 이용 요금은 무료이며 승객이 원하는 정거장에서 자유롭게 승하차할 수 있다.

당진시 관계자는 "내포신도시에 이어 충청남도에서 두 번째로 자율주행차 시범 운행지구로 지정됐다"며 "앞으로 자율주행차 시범 운행 실증을 통해 자율주행 사업을 더욱 확산하는 계기를 마련하고 모빌리티 선도도시가 되기 위해 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

자율주행차 시범 운행지구란 자율주행차를 활용한 연구와 시범 운행을 위해 여객·화물 유상운송,자동차 안전기준,도로시설,2023-2024 UEFA 유로파 컨퍼런스리그 4강C-ITS 등 각종 규제 특례를 부여한다.
