아파트에서 불이 나자 21층부터 1층까지 돌며 문을 두드려 주민 대피를 도운 고등학생이 경찰 표창을 받았습니다.

오늘(5일) 경기 남양주 북부경찰서는 광동고등학교 2학년 김민준 학생에게 표창장을 수여했다고 밝혔습니다.

경찰에 따르면 지난 1일 오후 9시 25분쯤 남양주시 진접읍 소재 아파트 2층에서 불이 났습니다.

이 아파트 21층에 살던 김 군은 화재를 인지하고 21층부터 1층까지 계단으로 내려오며 각 층 집 문을 두드리며 소리쳐 주민들에게 불이 난 사실을 알렸습니다.

김 군의 활약과 소방 당국의 신속한 진화로 해당 화재 때 사망자나 심각한 중상자는 발생하지 않았습니다.

김 군은 "아파트에 거동이 불편한 할아버지와 할머니들이 많이 사는데 혹시 불이 난 사실을 모르고 있을 수도 있다는 생각에 문을 두드렸다"라고 말했습니다.

김 군은 구호 활동을 하다 연기를 마셔 호흡곤란 증상으로 병원으로 이송돼 치료받았으며 현재는 건강을 회복한 것으로 전해졌습니다.

경찰 관계자는 "시민들의 안전을 위해 헌신과 용기를 보여준 김민준 군에게 깊은 감사를 전한다"라고 말했습니다.
