광주 광산경찰서는 28일 여성접객원을 성매매 목적으로 유흥업소에 불법 알선한 혐의(성매매처벌법 및 직업안정법 위반)로 A(47)씨를 구속했다고 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 A씨는 최근 4개월간 광주 광산구 첨단지구 일대에서 '보도방'으로 불리는 미등록 유료 직업소개소를 운영해 여성접객원 40여 명을 유흥업소에 알선하고 7억 원 상당의 부당 이득을 챙긴 혐의를 받고있다.

또 A씨로부터 여성접객원을 알선받은 유흥업소 업주 24명과 성매매 장소를 제공한 모텔 업주 2명도 성매매 알선 혐의로 불구속 입건해 조사 중이다.

경찰은 지난 7일 첨단지구 흉기난동 사건이 발생한 배경에 에 보도방 운영 이권이 있다는 사실을 인지하고 이번 후속 수사에 착수해 이들을 검거했다.

경찰조사 결과 동종전과가 있는 A씨는 약 10년간 첨단지구에서 최대 규모의 보도방을 운영한 것으로 드러났다.

법원은 도주 우려 등을 고려해 A씨에 대한 구속영장을 발부했다.
