서울 방배경찰서는 지난 26일 업무상과실치상 혐의로 순경 A씨를 서울중앙지검에 불구속 송치했다고 28일 밝혔다.

A씨는 지난 4월8일 서울 서초구에 있는 서울경찰청 경찰특공대 사격 훈련장에서 대테러 대응 훈련 중 동료 경찰인 B씨를 실수로 쏜 혐의를 받는다.

이 사고로 B씨는 왼쪽 팔꿈치 아래에 관통상을 입고 왼쪽 허벅지에 실탄이 박혀 수술을 받았다고 전해졌다.

경찰은 총기 결함 가능성 등을 조사하기 위해 국립과학수사연구원(국과수)에 정밀 감식을 의뢰했다.국과수는 총기 지문에 해당하는 '강선흔'을 토대로 A씨가 실탄을 발사한 것으로 추정했다.

경찰 관계자는 "둘 사이에 원한이 있지는 않았다"며 총기 결함으로 인한 사고도 아닌 것으로 조사했다고 말했다.
