2017년 첫 선을 보인 비반은 사우디아라비아 중소기업청이 주관하는 중동 최대 규모 스타트업 행사다.작년부터 국제 행사로 확대돼 전세계 1200여개 기업과 14만명 이상이 참여·방문했다.

전시회는 스타트업 전시와 시장,이커머스 등 9개 주제의 포럼으로 구성되며,사우디아라비아 등 중동 지역 진출에 관심있는 기업과 투자자들에게 현지 시장 정보를 제공한다.

중기부는 비반 2023에서 K-스타트업관을 운영‘더핑크퐁컴퍼니‘엔젤스윙’등 유망 스타트업 10개사의 전시 참여를 지원한 바 있다.올해에도 K-스타트업 통합관을 통해 중동 진출에 관심이 있는 유망 스타트업들의 전시 참여를 돕는다.

올해는 비반 기간 중 결선이 개최되는 EWC에도 국가대표를 파견한다.EWC는 사우디아라비아 중소기업청과 세계 기업가정신 네트워크(GEN)가 공동 주최하는 국제 스타트업 경진대회로,2019 fifa 프랑스 여자 월드컵 16강상위 100개사로 선정된 스타트업들이 세계 결선에 참여한다.

우승시에는 총 100만 달러의 상금(단계·분야별 상금 총합)과 투자 유치,2019 fifa 프랑스 여자 월드컵 16강사우디아라비아 진출 지원 등의 특전이 주어진다.2021년에는 한국 스타트업 토닥이 대상을 차지하기도 했다.중기부와 창업진흥원은 세계 기업가정신 네트워크와 업무 협약을 맺고 공식 운영 기관으로서‘EWC 코리아(EWC 한국 예선)’를 개최할 예정이다.

중기부는 EWC 코리아를 통해 비반 2024 내 K-스타트업 통합관 전시 참가 스타트업 10개사와 EWC 글로벌(세계 본선) 진출 스타트업 3개사를 선발한다.참여 희망 기업은 K-스타트업 누리집에서 공고문 확인 후 신청하면 된다.
