동해 석유 가스 매장 가능성을 분석한 미국 원유탐사 전문가가 오늘 오전 기자회견을 열었습니다.

탐사 성공률 20%는 높은 수준이라면서도,덕천 롯데리아실제 입증할 수 있는 방법은 시추밖에 없다고 했습니다.

오늘 정부세종청사에서 기자회견을 연 액트지오사의 아브레우 고문은 동해안 탐사 프로젝트의 유망성이 상당히 높다고 밝혔습니다.

"분석 결과 모든 시추공에 석유와 가스 존재를 암시하는 모든 요소가 갖춰있다"는 점을 근거로 들었습니다.

석유가 실존하기 위해서는 대륙붕안에 많은 모래가 있어야 하는데 동해 심해에서 석유가 들어 있는 유망구조 잠재력을 확인했다며 상당한 매장량이 있는 것으로 분석했습니다.

아브레우 고문은 그러나,덕천 롯데리아유망 구조에 석유와 가스의 잠재적 존재가 있다는 점은 판별했지만 실제로 이를 입증할 수 있는 방법은 시추하는 것밖에 남아있지 않다고 말했습니다.

그러면서 시추 성공률 20%는 상당히 높은 수치라고 강조했습니다.

한편 액트지오의 분석과 달리 15년간 동해 심해 탐사를 진행한 호주의 우드사이드사가 지난해 1월 철수한 뒤 '장래성이 없다'는 내용의 보고서를 낸 데 대해서 조기철수로 탐사자료를 심층분석할 시간적 여유가 없었다고 해명했습니다.

석유공사는 액트지오사에 분석을 의뢰한 배경에 대해 4개 업체에 대해 경쟁 입찰을 통해 선정을 했고 지난 2023년 2월부터 1년 가까이 분석을 했다고 설명했습니다.
